If you are traveling on an Economy ticket or an Economy award ticket, please refer to the information below to see which checked baggage fees may apply.
For customers who are not exempt from first and second bag fees, the fees (each way) are as follows:

Note: A $2 fee may apply for each bag checked via curbside check-in at certain U.S. airports.

Baggage fee exceptions
You are exempt from the above fees for checking your first two bags if you are:

  • traveling in United First® or United Business®;
  • a Global ServicesSM, Mileage Plus® 1K®, Premier Executive®, Premier® or Premier Associate® member;
  • a Star Alliance® Gold or Silver member; or
  • military personnel traveling on orders.

 

Oversized baggage:
Any checked bag with a single dimension more than 62 inches is not accepted.
In the U.S., Canada and U.S. territories, checked baggage that exceeds 62 linear inches (length+width+height) will be charged $100.00 per piece.  Any bag that is more than 115 linear inches will not be accepted.

Customer checked-in luggage items exempt from the second bag fee:
Child car seats, carriers and strollers
Wheelchairs, walkers and other personal assistive devices
