San Diego Beaches: If San Diego is known for one thing, it would be for our gorgeous beaches. With 70 miles of pristine coastline, year-around sunshine and mild temperatures, you can enjoy the surf and sand almost any day of the year. For visitors and locals alike, the beach is a veritable wonderland and the place to spend entire days with family and friends.
From expansive sandy beaches, rocky cliffs, reefs, tide pools and everything in between, the beaches in San Diego are as varied as the California beach towns that were built around them. Discover beaches perfect for families and dogs, beaches coveted by the world’s top surfers, or to enjoy a fire, play volleyball, spot sea creatures or simply relax and people watch. One thing’s for sure, on any given day at any beach in San Diego, you’ll find a front row seat to a magnificent display of the western sky as the sun descents into the Pacific.
Theme Parks/Attractions: San Diego is home to many of Southern California’s top tourist attractions which provide exhilaration, education and excitement for adults and kids of all ages. San Diego’s close proximity to Anaheim also makes for an easy day trip to Disneyland.
LEGOLAND® California Resort has a lot that's new to make your visit the most memorable ever. This summer, play your part at Pirate Reef. Families choose the blue ship or the red ship and fire water cannons across the ships' bows. To add to the excitement, you can join a buccaneer-filled boat as it races down a flume between the battling ships. The Resort features more than 60 rides, shows and attractions, including the new LEGO® STAR WARS™ Miniland area and the world’s first LEGOLAND Water Park with fun slides and a lazy river where you can build your own LEGO themed raft.
At SEA LIFE™ Aquarium, you'll find undersea creatures like sea stars, sharks and stingrays, along with interactive discovery zones. And our newest exhibit, CLAWS! is a real grabber, showcasing crabs and other crustaceans in an up-close encounter.
Come celebrate the wonders of the sea at SeaWorld San Diego. Experience the amazing Shamu show, and thrilling rides like Journey To Atlantis, Shipwreck Rapids and Wild Arctic. Dive into the world of sea turtles at Turtle Reef, an attraction featuring a 300,000-gallon aquarium with up to 60 threatened sea turtles, an interactive game that teaches kids about the threats turtles face in the wild, a map that tracks rehabilitated turtles and an exciting ride called Riptide Rescue. Don't miss the Pets Rule! show and the hilarious antics of Clyde and Seamore's sea lion and otter show. Feed and touch dolphins, and get up-close to beluga whales, polar bears, sharks and penguins.
An urban paradise for all ages, the San Diego Zoo is a must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit amazing habitats for animals such as gorillas, tigers, sun bears, flamingos, mandrills, polar bears, birds of paradise, giant tortoises, leopards and more. Take a Panda Trek to visit the giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and to see a herd of Asian elephants. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or an aerial view from Skyfari, dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert’s Restaurant, and see animals up close in the Children's Zoo. San Diegans love a good adventure, and will stop at nothing to take advantage of the area’s natural playground -- on the water, in the air, or on the trails. For a bird’s eye perspective on the gorgeous San Diego coastline, try your hand at paragliding or hang gliding from La Jolla’s Gliderport. A plethora of options await for recreation on the water; from fishing, sailing and jet-skiing, scuba diving to surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and kite boarding. On land, explorers can enjoy gorgeous hikes in the desert or a trek up mountains to take in beautiful views, tour the terrain on horseback or on a mountain bike, or enjoy the lush greens of the many golf courses spotted throughout the region.
